5 Exciting Turbocharged Cars coming in 2016

2015 has seen some fantastic new turbocharged cars come to market, with turbocharged versions of the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera launching alongside some more accessible motors like the Civic Type R and Mazda Mx-5.

Whilst this year has been good, 2016 is shaping up to be the year of the turbo, with a host of amazing turbocharged cars set for launch. Here are 5 of our favourites:

1. Ferrari 488 Spider

The 458 was one of our favourite sports cars – but the new 488 looks even better. This Italian masterpiece is set for launch in June, and comes fitted with a turbocharged 4 litre V8 that’ll do 0-62 in 3 seconds, before topping out at a blistering 203mph!

As you’d expect from a high end Ferrari, it’s absolutely stunning inside and out, with beautiful curves and lines, and a sleek interior – but that’s not why you should get one. Ultimately, the 488 is about unadulterated driving pleasure, and its blistering pace is offset by incredible handling.

A must have…as long as you’ve got at least £204,400 available to spend on a supercar!

2. Ford GT

The new Ford GT might be the best looking car of 2016. It’s masculine, sporty and modern, and will undoubtedly have the performance to match its supercar looks.

A genuine challenger to the Lamborghini Aventador, it will feature a 3.5 litre turbocharged V6, capable of propelling the GT to 62 in under 3 seconds, and onto a maximum speed of 200mph plus!

Unfortunately, production is limited to 250 a year, and it looks like only 10 will reach the UK, so you may struggle to get hold of one - even if you have the £250,000 needed to match the asking price.

3. Kia GT

It wasn’t so long ago that petrol-heads would turn their noses up when the name Kia was mentioned – but those days are definitely behind us! In 2016, the South Korean manufacturer is set to launch the GT, as it looks to offer a cut price alternative to luxury performance 4 seaters like the Porsche Panamera.

Whilst engine information is scarce at the moment, the 2011 concept car featured a 3.3 litre turbocharged V6, so expect that, alongside a more sensible diesel. Prices are expected to be around £45,000 when it launches at the back end of the year.

4. Alfa Romeo Giulia

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for Alfa to launch its rival to the BMW 3 Series – but we now have a firm UK launch date of September 2016, and early signs look like it will definitely be worth the wait!

A sporty, rear-wheel drive car for the true driving enthusiast, it certainly looks the part, with the sporty design and signature curves of a classic Alfa Romeo. For the range topper, Alfa have invested in a new biturbo 3 litre V6 developed by Ferrari – which clearly has the BMW M3 in its sights.

Expect prices to rival a decently specced 3 series, with top end models reaching £60,000!

5. Ford Focus RS

Ford’s 4 wheel drive, 165mph hot hatch has already sold more than 1500 cars in the UK – 6 months before it’s officially launched in spring 2016.

With 0-60 in 4.7 seconds, the 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine transforms the Focus into a serious driving machine, with features like ‘drift mode’ and launch control sure to please enthusiasts.

Prices start at just under £29,000, but you’ll probably need at least £32,000 to spec the one you want.
