Tim Shaw’s Lancia Delta Evo
Externally the turbo was not pretty but this was nothing compared to the condition internally. The bearings/turbine shaft/bearing housing and seals were all worn and needed replacing, but also the turbine housing had a whopping great big crack completely through the wall of the housing. Its quite a common problem due to the age of these vehicles, but nothing we couldn’t solve. Thankfully we had a good used housing in stock.
After a couple of days the turbo was fully reconditioned. In fact there wasn’t much left of the original turbo as it all required replacing. We also upgraded a few parts; like the seals and bearing system, to our motorsport versions. In the end it all worked out, and Tim was over the moon with it.
